Financial Aid
Nothing is more important to a great future than a great education. That is why the Office of Financial Aid at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University makes it their mission to “put students first” and to work diligently to provide them with the best possible financial package for college. Our counseling staff takes pride in working one-on-one with you and your family throughout your college years.
FAMU participates in a wide range of federal and state aid programs. With a combination of need-based grants, scholarships, loans and student employment, we work hard to make FAMU affordable for all admitted students. During the 2009-2010 academic year, we awarded over $180 million in financial aid to our students.
About 92 percent of FAMU students receive some form of financial assistance. To make sure you receive the best possible financial aid award, we ask that you remember the following:
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after January 1st but no later than February 1st. Our priority filing date is March 1st. The FAMU school code is 001480.
You may submit and mail the paper FAFSA, or you may apply through the Internet by using FAFSA on the Web. The Internet address is www.fafsa.ed.gov. To expedite the application process, we encourage you to apply on-line.
The Office of Financial Aid is located in the Foote Hilyer Administration Building, Room 101. The hours of operation are Monday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Tuesday – Friday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
