Student Recreational Center

At the new Hansel Tookes, Sr. Student Recreation Center, you will find it hard not to exercise and stay fit! Located on the corner of Wahnish Way and Osceola Rd., Phase One of this three-phase project was completed and began operations in Summer 2006.

Currently 40,000 sq. ft., the Tookes Student Recreation Center is the flagship for the Department of Campus Recreation and was constructed to positively impact the overall health and wellness of the FAMU Campus Community.


This state-of-the-art facility is primarily student run and the services proveded are funded by Student A&S Fees, as allocated by FAMU Student Government. 

The Department of Campus Recreation offers an array of programs and services that foster wellness and positive socialization for the University Community.

The department¹s mission is to meet the needs of a diverse student population by providing a comprehensive and innovative program of recreational, leisure and fitness activities. The department is comprised of three components: intramural sports, fitness and aerobics and Outdoor Adventures.

The department also encourages the development of leadership skills among its clientele through its student driven recreation committee.
